Cedar Walton:The Maybeck Recital Series. This requires a little explanation.  This CD, and the entire 40 CD collection is a solo piano jazz recording.  I have included it here because eight of the eleven selections are standards or "Real Book" jazz classics.  There is one bossa nova feel which sounds like it may be a Jobim composition.  I'll have to research that.  I want to make it clear that I think jazz improv is a welcomed enhancement for the cocktail pianist.  It is not a barrier but when done tastefully, an artistic complement.  I realize that others may disagree.  In summary, I would love o be in a cafe and hear this style of piano.

Sanga Noona, as far as I know, she hasn't recorded CD's.  She has, however, posted loads of videos.  She livestreams twice weekly.  She most impresses me with her versatility.  She excels in playing standards, classic jazz tunes from the "Real Book", pop tunes. and rock.  She doesn't sing often on her videos, but she does have a pleasant voice, as well.  I think she is  one of the best cocktail pianist/entertainers that I have ever heard.

Since this space is designated for CD's, I probably should have listed her under, "Who Do I Listen To" section.

Dave L. has a recent post extolling the virtues of playing both simply and effectively.  To piggyback on that, I think an excellent example of that is displayed on a CD by a player named Tom McBryde.  His CD, "Piano Time" illustrates that "less is more."  I highly recommend listening to  it.
