I sometimes approach a chord from one-half step above the target chord.  I'll demonstrate with "Satin Doll."  The "A" section begins with a ii-V(this song has lots of them.) The first one is Dm7-G7.  I approach the G from one-half step above that.  In this case, that's Aflat.  So, on beat 1, I play bass note D.  On beat two, I play a rootless Dm7.  In ascending order, that's F-A-C-E.  On beat 3, Aflat and Gflat together.  This is a I-7 voicing.  On beat 4, I play a rootless G dominant voicing.  In this case, that's,in ascending order, F-A-B-E.  Technically, that's a G13 chord.

Move everything up a whole step and you have the next Ii-V which in this song is Em7-A7.

I recommend learning all twelve ii-V's  this way.  It has served me well, especailly since my hands cannot reach a tenth.  Using the I-7 shell is a viable substitute.
