It's common for beginning jazz players to set their focus on lots of complexity when learning chord voicings. This kind of ambition is quite good. At the same time, it makes sense to put it all into perspective. When looking at the big picture, "thickness" in sound opens the door for "thinness" and vice versa.
Maintaining respect for simplicity is a sign of maturity and professionalism. Here is a post that I created that puts the spotlight on being a "minimalist."
